Substation tester

The OSS-tester is specially intended for checking 1500 VDC supply systems in substations or switching stations for no voltage condition. This is necessary when a supply section has to be grounded in case of work. The OSS-tester consists of a plastic housing in which the electronics and batteries are mounted.

At one side the tester is provided with an isolated grip. A fixed earth cable with screw clamp for connection to a ground measuring point (Dehn) is connected to the housing. For checking the 1500 V supply voltage a stick is attached to the other side. This stick ends with a measuring fork with two separated electrical measuring contacts. At the user side of the housing different coloured voltage indication led's are situated.

The OSS-tester is provided with a self checking function that checks all functions of the tester, including the battery voltage, before a measurement can be made. Moreover the tester is provided with a contact detection system in order to make sure that contact with the measuring point is effected. This is necessary to establish the difference between no voltage and no contact.

The OSS-tester is activated by a pushbutton, which also activates the self checking function.
The device is automatically switched off after a fixed period of 1 minute.
